geekdom
Heh... John, I'm only a 32% geek. The first question - do you have more than four terminals open right now - cracked me up (I have 7 open). Guess I'm more of a math/stats geek than a programming geek, but I already knew that... | | Monday, October 8th, 2001 | | 1:09 am |
Wow, John's actually not the only one using this... congrats, Mo :) Hope your weekend trip went well. The first (and only, really) time I've done something like that was when I went to something in between a resort and a campground, at the top of a mountain, in the middle of a rainforest in Queensland, Australia with Julia and my parents (any more prepositions? :) At the time, I was definitely _not_ financially independent, but it was interesting to do that sort of thing. I was actually surprised by how respecting of our independence, sharing a room, etc. If Julia were to come to my parents' place in Philadelphia, she wouldn't be allowed to even enter my room - but I guess the fact that we'd established our own lives, were living together, etc., made things different. And aside from the leeches, it worked out quite well. (Geez... that was the most poorly written paragraph I've ever composed... but I have better things to focus on) In other news, squash practice is underway. It's pretty exciting so far, and I think we'll have a pretty solid first year. Unlike the men's team, which is now in the position of having ~30 people come out to try for ~6 spots, the women's team have had only a few more than the required 9 players. But I think the people coming out are pretty enthusiastic and athletic, and it seems like they all have the kind of qualities that will be helpful in building a program. Yesterday was the first practice I ran by myself, and it was a challenge to try to give decent instruction to people on five different courts. And of course, the time commitment is about eight times what I banked on... but that should be temporary, as the players will soon be doing a lot of the administrative stuff. | | Wednesday, September 19th, 2001 | | 8:04 am |
Um... so I signed up for this thing. What's next? Just a quick update on me. I got up like an hour and a half ago, and have since brushed my teeth, eaten a bowl and a half of cereal (with bananas), showered, dressed (I'm actually wearing pants, not shorts, to work today), and driven in to work. This thing has delayed the start of my (limited) productivity. |
